The countdown is underway, and the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics are about to start. The Sportful Dolomiti Race granfondo will be present behind the scenes to support the event organization, through the work of a number of members of the SDR organizing committee and Pedale Feltrino who have already been in Cortina for several weeks assisting in various ways.
“We are proud of them,” said Ivan Piol, president of the Sportful Dolomiti Race organizing committee. “We know they’ll make an important contribution, thanks also to the real-world experience they’ve gained in Feltre managing our events [the Sportful Dolomiti Race granfondo, 24-Hour Connection, Sportful Dolomiti Gravel, and Mini Granfondo Sportful—Ed.], which every year bring more than 6,500 cyclists from all over the world to the province of Belluno. And they will no doubt learn new things that may be useful in improving our events as well. The committee extends its best wishes to them and to all those who are working to realize this extraordinary edition of the Olympic Games in our backyard.”
The Olympic volunteers and professionals are as follows:
– ANDREA BARP: At the SDR, he is responsible for the start and finish areas. At the Olympics, he will be an event services response volunteer, providing assistance and information to the public at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Center. He will provide directions on the route and assist with communication.
– ANTHONY CHOW: At the SDR, he is responsible for the race administrative office. At the Olympics, he will be a member of the staff curling games to the stage.
– CLAUDIO MENEGAT: At the SDR, he is one of the granfondo’s longtime race directors, one of those responsible for safety. At the Olympics, he will be a shuttle driver, taking athletes back and forth between the various zones (village, stadiums, race areas).
